Air Atlanta Icelandic is an Icelandic airline founded in 1986 by Captain Arngrimur Johannsson and his wife, Thora Gudmundsdottir. From the beginning, the company has focused on providing ACMI (Wet Lease) and aircraft charter services to the passenger and cargo market worldwide.
Throughout the years, Air Atlanta Icelandic has established a large and diverse customer base of airlines, tour operators, charter brokers, governments, and various non-profit organizations. Air Atlanta Icelandic employs a multicultural workforce of over 1,000 employees and contractors, which includes over 50 different nationalities. Flight deck and cabin crew form the largest group of the workforce. Air Atlanta Icelandic is a privately-owned company. The current ownership rests with four members of its senior management team, who purchased the company through a management buy-out in December 2007.
